It acts as a concierge service, granting you streamlined, priority access to a national Network of Excellence—a select group of top-performing surgeons and facilities—for planned, non-emergency procedures. For patients of Transform Bariatrics and Aesthetics, this means access to elite weight loss and general surgeons with highly competitive financial terms.
Who is a Good Candidate?
Good candidates for the Lantern benefit are those who meet both the medical and insurance eligibility criteria:
- Insurance Eligibility: You (or your dependent) must be enrolled in a health plan provided by an employer, union, or public entity that has specifically contracted with Lantern (or the associated benefits provider, like Transcarent).
- Medical Eligibility: You must meet the standard clinical criteria for bariatric surgery, typically including:
- A Body Mass Index (BMI) of 40 or greater.
- A BMI of 35 or greater with at least one obesity-related comorbidity (e.g., Type 2 diabetes, severe sleep apnea, high blood pressure).
- Commitment to the required pre-surgical evaluation, lifestyle changes, and long-term follow-up care.
